Initial care - Right after getting tattooedLeave the bandage on: The tattooed area will be convered with a bandage like Saniderm/Second Skin. Leave this on for the time recommended, which is 3 to 5 days. Wash your tattoo: After removing the bandage, gently wash the tattooed area with lukewarm water and a mild, fragrance-free soap. Use your hands and avoid scrubbing with a washcloth or towel. Pat dry and air dry: Gently pat the tattoo dry with a clean paper towel or allow it to air dry. Avoid rubbing the tattoo or using a regular towel, as this can irritate the skin. Avoid tight clothing: During the initial healing phase, wear loose, breathable clothing to minimize friction and irritation on the tattooed area. Avoid extreme sports: It's advisable to postpone vigorous exercises for a few days after getting a tattoo. Even if you're feeling well, engaging in physical activities can strain your muscles and potentially disrupt the healing of your tattoo.
-
Dailycare - Healing phase and for the rest of your lifeApply moisturizer: Once the tattoo is dry, apply a thin layer of unscented, alcohol-free moisturizer or tattoo-specific aftercare product to keep the skin hydrated. Avoid direct sunlight: Protect your tattoo from direct sunlight and tanning beds during the healing process. UV exposure can fade the tattoo and increase the risk of skin damage. Avoid soaking: For the first few weeks, avoid swimming, soaking in hot tubs, going to the spa, or taking long baths. Quick showers are generally recommended, but avoid letting the water spray directly on the tattoo. Avoid scratching or picking: As the tattoo heals, it may become itchy. Resist the urge to scratch or pick at the tattoo, as this can damage the skin and affect the tattoo's appearance. Do not use scrub/exfoliation for a couple of weeks until the tattoo is healed and has stopped peeling.
